Here I am going to document the progress of the making of my poster. I have done more research into Hamish Fulton's typography work and in response to the exhibition I am going to experiment with a style similar to Hamish Fulton.
The pieces of work that I have looked and in more details and in particular are these:
Here I am just looking at the borders that he uses, I think it draws your eye to the piece and I think it wouls stand out if it was on a notice board.

The reason that I have chosen to look at this image (I saw this in the exhibition at the Turner Contemporary) is because I really like the way that the writing is over the image. It is easily the title of the piece, that is what caught my eye and then I saw the image. Then next part that I saw was the date, in red.

Next I'm going to show ideas that I am developing for the margate poster.
Here are the first beginnings of making my poster. I am making a few different versions of this one, using this typeface - Century Gothic in Bold.
Here are 8 different ideas/versions that I have done for the margate poster.
I have choosen the words:
'Discover Art
Discover Beauty
Discover Margate'
I chose those because I think it portrays the way in which there can be beauty found in anything. Even though Margate is a place being built up and is trying to pull through as a seaside town, there are parts of the town which are still beautiful.
I think that I have shown this well with the clean cut words and keeping it short it's straight to the point in what I want to say about the seaside town.
In comparison to the first initial idea that I had with the black outline going around the edge I have taken away because I think that it takes away something from the piece and I think that it looked a whole lot better without it.
I have used the seaside image as the main image in my ideas because I really like the colour in the beach hut. I have edited the image in Photoshop before hand to make the colours quite dull but still standing out from the background - which I think it does well.
